Fans in Brazil will be disappointed to hear the UFC’s upcoming card in the South American nation has lost one of their countrymen after Marcos Vinicius was forced to withdraw from his fight with Yuri Alcantara due to injury. The bout was scheduled to unfold on the preliminary portion of UFC on FX 8.
UFC officials have not confirmed the change though regional outlet TATAME reported Vinicius’ condition. The 20-4-1 grappler is coming off a loss, though he’d picked up an impressive finish of Wagner Campos prior to the stumble.
A replacement is expected to be named in the coming weeks. Whoever the UFC selects to fill his spot will certainly have a tough test at the May 18 event. Alcantara is 27-4 in his career with 23 wins featuring some form of finish.
