UFC middleweight Chris Camozzi was willing to step up and replace C.B. Dollaway in a May 18 match-up with Cezar Ferreira after his fellow Ultimate Fighter alum went down with an injury. However, it looks like Camozzi will actually be fighting Rafael Natal at UFC on FX 8 instead, as Ferreira has also been scratched for health-related reasons.
Camozzi confirmed the change in Brazilian opponents earlier today on his website where he wrote, “I don’t care who I fight. I’m just looking to build my record and make money for my new family and show the UFC they can count on me when they need me. Even though this is called a “short notice” fight, I still feel as though six weeks gives me enough time to get ready for Natal. I’m a fighter with the UFC and I’m paid to fight who they give me!”
The 19-5 Camozzi is currently on a four-fight winning streak highlighted by recent decisions over Luiz Cane and Nick Ring. Thirteen of his victories have featured some form of finish.
Comparably, Natal is 15-4-1 with eleven stoppages of his own including eight submissions. He was last seen tapping out Sean Spencer in January at UFC on FOX 6.
