Invicta FC will follow the trend of their most recent shows by crowning a new champion at their next event though the tilt will arguably be the organization’s highest profile pairing to date. As announced at Invicta FC 5, Cristiane Santos and Marloes Coenen will clash at Invicta FC 6 with the winner emerging as the organization’s first featherweight title-holder. The two faced off a little over three years ago under the Strikeforce banner where “Cyborg” scored a TKO in the third round of action.
In addition to being featured at Invicta FC 6, MMAJunkie recently received confirmation from officials stating the bout would headline the card. No date has been set but it is expected to unfold in late June or early July.
“Cyborg” picked up her first win since a yearlong suspension for steroid use last Friday night, peppering opponent Fiona Muxlow with powerful strikes until a stoppage was called for a little less than four minutes into the fight. She is now 11-1 in her career with nine knockouts.
Meanwhile, the 21-5 Coenen tapped Muxlow out in a similar amount of time last December. Fifteen of her past wins have come by way of submission including those over Roxanne Modafferi, Liz Carmouche, and Sarah Kaufman.
