An injury to unbeaten welterweight Gunnar Nelson has resulted in a new UFC 160 match-up for Mike Pyle, albeit one fans should find just as interesting as the originally planned encounter. According to an official announcement, Rick Story has been tabbed as Nelson’s replacement at the May 25 event.
No details were given on the seriousness of Nelson’s affliction.
The 15-6 Story will looked to return to the same form against Pyle previously earning him status as a likely title-contender a few years back. Story was last seen scoring a first-frame knockout of Quinn Mulhern in March, adding to past victories over the likes of Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks.
Pyle is on a three-fight winning streak with all of the victories involving opening round stoppages. He holds an overall record of 24-8 including 16 submissions and five TKOs.
