The list of medical suspensions attached to action at UFC on Fuel 9 has surfaced and, fortunately, it doesn’t look like any of the evening’s participants will miss a significant amount of time resulting from damage sustained in their respective rumbles. All told, a quartet of competitors will have to sit on the sidelines for the next 30 days with the involved athletes being Phil De Fries, Marcus Brimage, Ryan Couture, and Ilir Latifi.
MMAWeekly was first to report the health-related fallout from last weekend’s lineup.
De Fries, Brimage, and Couture all suffered knockout losses at the show and received time off for precautionary reasons. Meanwhile, Latifi will need to heal from some of the superficial damage his face endured over a three-round tilt with Gegard Mousasi.
Original headliner Alexander Gustafsson was not included on the Swedish athletic commission’s breakdown of injuries. Gustafsson was pulled off the card when he suffered a serious cut in training about a week out from the show. Also notably absent was Ross Pearson who thought he’d broken his foot backstage while warming up.
