As if the lineup for UFC 162 wasn’t already exciting enough on paper, the organization has now added action from two of the top lightweight strikers on the roster. According to an official announcement, Edson Barboza will test his technical prowess against John Makdessi’s power at the July 6 event.
The 11-1 Barboza has seven knockouts to his credit including a fantastic finish of Terry Etim in 2012. He has also beaten the likes of Anthony Njokuani and Ross Pearson inside the Octagon.
Makdessi boasts a similar career mark at 11-2 with seven strike-based stoppages of his own. He is currently on a two-fight run with victories over Sam Stout and Daron Cruickshank in his recent rear-view.
UFC 162 is headlined by a match-up between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and unbeaten contender Chris Weidman. Other fights highlightiing the card include Chan Sung Jung-Ricardo Lamas, Tim Boetsch-Mark Munoz, Cub Swanson-Dennis Siver, and Frankie Edgar-Charles Oliveira.
