UFC on FOX 7 Medical Suspensions: Daniel Cormier, four others could be out up to six months

UFC on FOX 7 PosterLast weekend’s lineup for UFC on FOX 7 arguably produced the most memorable event from top to bottom of any FOX-based show but, as might be expected, the level of entertainment produced came with a price. Though headliners Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez both escaped the card without any serious health-related issues, many of their peers weren’t so lucky including heavyweight Daniel Cormier.

According to a list of medical suspensions issued by the CSAC, Cormier could be sidelined for six months for a damaged finger. However, Cormier can be cleared by a physician depending on the severity of the injury and be back in action much sooner than expected.

MMAJunkie was first to report the regulatory board’s findings.

Other fighters who could spend a solid chunk of time on the shelf include Ramsey Nijem, Jorge Masvidal, Chad Mendes, and Jordan Mein. Both Masvidal and Mendes are dealing with possible finger fractures, while the brutal knockout Nijem suffered against Myles Jury was apparently cause for concern and Mein may have exited the Octagon with both a broken orbital bone and broken jaw due to the damage dished out by opponent Matt Brown.
