UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve was on the cusp of title-contendership entering a March match-up with Mark Hunt but ultimately lost the bout after being blasted a few times by the heavy-handed slugger. While Struve’s pride took at hit as a result of the defeat, the damage done to his confidence was less severe than the literal injuries he suffered in the effort. Specifically, Struve’s jaw was left severely broken and ultimately required surgery.
Less than two months removed from the situation, Struve has officially resumed his regular schedule and recently offered up some good news to his fans by way of Twitter.
“Six weeks after having surgery on my jaw I had my first full contact MMA training tonight. It went GREAT! Aiming to be back in a couple months,” exclaimed the seven-foot scrapper.
Struve had finished four straight opponents prior to his bout with Hunt. He holds an overall record of 25-6 including success against the likes of Dave Herman, Stipe Miocic, Lavar Johnson, and Pat Barry. All but two of his victories have featured some form of stoppage.
