UFC welterweight John Hathaway has been forced out of his UFC on Fuel 10 fight with Erick Silva for undisclosed reasons. However, the vacancy created by his removal didn’t last long, as Jason High has stepped in to replace Hathaway and will now see action against Silva at the June 8 show.
Though officials haven’t confirmed the change, High went on Twitter this morning to announce his role in the rumble. Prior to the situation High was scheduled to face Ildemar Alcantara at the event.
The 16-3 High is currently on a seven-fight winning streak including success against Quinn Mulhern, Hayato Sakurai, and Jordan Mein. Though a wrestler by trade, ten of High’s wins have featured some form of stoppage.
The 28-year old Silva hasn’t stepped foot in the Octagon since losing a Fight of the Night effort to Jon Fitch last October. Prior to the stumble the potential-laden pugilist had picked up wins under the UFC banner over Luis Ramos and Charlie Brenneman. He holds an overall record of 14-3 including eight TKOs and three submissions.
