The trash-talk between UFC middleweights Michael Bisping (23-5) and Alan Belcher (18-7) has been fierce leading up to tonight’s tilt at UFC 159, especially on the Brit’s side as might be expected given his reputation for spewing smack. However, with the match-up having finally arrived, “The Count” isn’t working as hard to promote the pairing and, as a result, he’s more willing to speak a little more honestly.
Bisping spoke to the Fuel TV broadcast team before the weigh-ins where he backed off previous insults, admitting Belcher is an apt adversary albeit a beatable one nonetheless.
“I believe I’m one of the best but you’ve gotta win fights. It’s all well and good, me saying it, but I’ve gotta prove it,” said Bisping, adding, “It’s a fight. Anything’s possible. Of course I’m concerned.”
“I’ve trained accordingly. I think I’m the better fighter. He kicks well but so do I, but honestly I’ve fought way better competition,” he confidently concluded. “I’ve been doing this a long, long time. It’s just another day in the office.”
