It was a strange night at UFC 159 though one with as many highlights as bizarre occurrences. One of the evening’s most entertainment moments came when heavyweight Roy Nelson KO’d Cheick Kongo in the opening round of their main card clash. The finish came after Nelson landed a huge overhand right, following the shot up with a single, spectacular strike on the ground rendering Kongo into a puddle of goo.
Understandably, the finish was named Knockout of the Night and scored Nelson an extra $65,000.
Meanwhile, Pat Healy and Jim Miller won Fight of the Night thanks to a spirited effort seeing the Strikeforce veteran choke Miller out cold in the closing round of their rumble. Like Nelson, each won $65,000 for the effort.
Also noteworthy, Healy’s stoppage of Miller was awarded Submission of the Night, netting “Bam Bam” another $65,000 on top of his other bonus.
