Bellator is set to return to Spike TV this summer with a bang thanks to the recently revealed lineup for a June 19 show in Oklahoma marking the start organization’s annual Summer Series of events between seasons. Not only does Bellator 96 feature lightweight champion Michael Chandler putting his title on the line against tournament-winner Dave Jansen, but other notable competitors like Renato Sobral, War Machine, Seth Petruzelli, and Mo Lawal are also on tap to take to the cage.
The evening’s headliner will pit the 11-0 Chandler against Jansen (19-2) in what will mark his second defense of the belt since beating Eddie Alvarez.
“I’m excited to get back in the cage and defend the belt against a tough guy like Jansen,” said Chandler in a press release announcing the card. “He’s proven to be a very tough and durable competitor. My plan is the same as every fight, which is to show up new and improved and collect another dominant finish for the fans.”
Meanwhile, “Babalu” Sobral (37-10) will see action against hard-hitting wrestler Jacob Noe (11-2) in a four-man tournament aimed at title-contendership in the light heavyweight division, while Lawal (9-2) and Petruzelli (14-7) meet on the other side of the bracket with an eventual opportunity to win gold also up for grabs in their tilt. Additionally, War Machine (12-4) will make his Bellator debut at the event, facing finisher Blas Avena (8-6) in the main card’s opening clash.
