Its official – UFC lightweight Diego Sanchez will see action in the Octagon on August 31! However, things are bit more up in the air when it comes to the foe he’ll actually face off against.
Sanchez spoke about his immediate future in a recent interview with MMAJunkie Radio, telling fans he was already locked in for UFC 164 per a conversation with matchmaker Joe Silva but is open to suggestion as far as his adversary goes.
“We’re looking at opponents. I did like I always do and said, ‘Look, you’re the man, Joe. You’re the one who makes all these big match-ups. And I’m, in my opinion, in the most stacked division in the UFC, and there are plenty of great fights out there, and you’ll hook me up with a good scrap,’” explained Sanchez.
“There are so many good fights in that division that I couldn’t narrow it down to one,” he added when asked if he mentioned or was offered any specific scraps.
The original Ultimate Fighter is 24-5 in his career and had his hand raised three of the last four times he’s fought including a closely contested decision win over Takanori Gomi last February. The bout marked Sanchez’s return to 155 pounds after a stint at welterweight.
