UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt has made a career out separating other from consciousness thanks to his polished kickboxing background and power-punching style. Though Hunt hopes to produce the same result on May 25 when he meets Junior dos Santos at UFC 160, he isn’t sure he’ll have the opportunity to do so based on his expectations of how “Cigano” will approach the fight.
“I do think he’s going to try to take the fight to the mat once he realizes that I have a huge arsenal,” said Hunt in a recent interview with the UFC.
Hunt’s assessment is surprising given Dos Santos’ own love of stand-up. The former divisional king owes twelve of his fifteen wins to a strike-based stoppage.
