The UFC’s role on FOX Sports 1 was outlined earlier this year when the broadcasting giant announced plans to provide a new sports-oriented network aimed at rivaling ESPN. Specifically, programming previously airing on Fuel TV/FX like the Ultimate Fighter and UFC Tonight would shift to FS1, as would live events.
Though the UFC is already planning a major card for FS1’s August 17 unveiling, it looks like fans will get two more treats shortly thereafter in the form of shows on August 28 and September 4. Officials announced the news earlier today, though specifics were not offered other than to say the latter would be utilized to help hype TUF 18’s debut on the same day.
“The programming schedule has been solidified, and we really come out of the gate incredibly strong from Day 1,” said FOX executive Eric Shanks in a conversation captured by MMAJunkie.
It was also revealed that August 17 would also feature a ton of UFC programming in the hours preceding UFC on FS1 as would the preliminary pairings attached to the card.
