It didn’t take long for former UFC featherweight Leonard Garcia to find a new professional home. Released last week, Garcia teased the possibility of signing with World Series of Fighting. Though he may eventually make his way to the organization’s cage, it appears his next outing will instead take place under the Legacy FC banner.
According to an official announcement from the organization, Garcia will return home to Texas on July 19 for a rumble with Rey Trujillo at Legacy FC 21. The event is taking place in Houston and will also feature Matt Riddle’s promotional debut.
Garcia hasn’t had his hand raised in more than two years, dropping five straight fights since a controversial decision victory over Nam Phan. The 33-year old is 15-11-1 in his career with success against Jens Pulver, Hiroyuki Takaya, and Chan Sung Jung. However, he is best known for his all-out approach and aesthetically pleasing, yet technically sloppy, brawling style.
The 14-10 Trujillo has won ten fights by way of knockout and is riding the momentum of a back-to-back wins in his last two tilts.
