UFC featherweight Nik Lentz improved his record at 145 pounds to 3-0 last weekend with a hard-fought decision win over Hacran Dias at UFC on FX 8, though at one point it appeared the 28-year old’s run was over when Dias locked in a tight Arm-Triangle Choke. However, as “The Carny” explained to Fuel TV, looks can be deceiving.
“I’m never gonna get tapped out with an Arm-Triangle. My jiu-jitsu coaches are way too good to ATT. I was safe the whole time but the guy had it incredibly tight,” said Lentz, mentioning patience was the key to escaping the hold despite also giving Dias his due. “I give him credit. No one’s every hit me with an Arm-Triangle like that.”
Though Lentz’s last two wins have come in Brazil, the 24-5-2 grappler isn’t looking to make it a third straight.
“It took me practically 30 hours worth of traveling to get here. And it’s just a different environment, so it makes weight cutting a little harder and stuff,” explained Lentz. “I think I’ve (paid) my dues and I’m looking forward to fighting in the United States again.”
