The UFC promised an impressive lineup to help launch FOX Sports 1 on August 17 and has thus far delivered with a few potential-laden pairings almost certain to entertain. The card got a bit bigger this week, both in terms of additional action and the size of the involved competitors, with the booking of a bout featuring Top 10 heavyweights in the form of Alistair Overeem-Travis Browne. Both men are over 6’4” and have reputations for ending opponents’ evenings before scorecards come into play.
The 36-12 Overeem lost out on a title-shot in February when he suffered an upset loss to Antonio Silva. Prior to the defeat he’d won eleven consecutive clashes including success against Brock Lesnar, Mark Hunt, and Fabricio Werdum. All but two of his wins have featured some form of finish with a near-even split between submissions/TKOs.
Browne is 14-1-1 in his career with ten knockouts notched on his record. He was last seen stopping Gabriel Gonzaga with strikes a little more than a minute into their April outing.
