Grappling may draw applause from fans who love technical tussles but the average onlooker loves stand-up and would opt for a knockout over a submission finish any night of the week. So, while there are some solid wrestlers and BJJers set for action this weekend at UFC 160, chances are the strikers will steal the show.
In a recent feature from the UFC, four of the fighters slated to square off tomorrow evening were asked about their desire to draw blood with an emphasis on striking. In the clip, heavyweight opponents Junior dos Santos and Mark Hunt both confirmed the likelihood for ending the other’s evening early, while lightweight foes Donald Cerrone-K.J. Noons made it clear they planned to put on an entertaining performance once the cage door closed.
“He likes to strike, I like to strike, so it’s going to be very interesting for the fans,” said Dos Santos of his scrap with Hunt. “Two heavyweights hitting each other, for sure somebody is gonna get knocked out.”
