UFC 160 Bonuses: Junior dos Santos wins cash but not for Knockout of the Night

Heavyweight Junior dos Santos entered UFC 160 with something to prove and did it, damaging opponent Mark Hunt early and ultimately putting him away in the third round with a spinning heel kick reminiscent of Vitor Belfort’s recent finish of Luke Rockhold. The victory scored Dos Santos a strike-based stoppage but not Knockout of the Night honors, as “Cigano” and Hunt each received $50,000 for Fight of the Night

At the urging of boxing great Mike Tyson, lightweight T.J. Grant walked away with Knockout of the Night for his win over Gray Maynard. Grant ended Maynard’s evening with strikes to the surprise of many, winning $50,000 and a title-shot as a result.

Finally, Submission of the Night was awarded to Glover Teixeira for an opening round Guillotine Choke of James Te Huna. Like his counterparts, he too walked away with an extra $50,000 as a result.

Right after watching the Dos Santos/Hunt, fight I shouted, “Junior Dos Santos just robbed TJ Grant of a KO bonus!”

Very glad that Iron Mike got them to award Grant for his fantastic KO.
