UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt has never been afraid to trade strikes with an opponent and certainly wasn’t this past Saturday day when he squared off against Junior dos Santos at UFC 160. Hunt went toe-to-toe with Dos Santos as often as possible, though ultimately fell as a result after eating an impressive spinning kick and some subsequent shots to his jaw.
As Hunt has since revealed, he actually broke a toe early on in the bout. Of course, that didn’t deter him from doing what does so well, i.e. throwing leather with little concern for his own well-being.
“Thanks for the support. Apologies about the result,” wrote Hunt to his fans via Facebook. “Junior was too slick for me. Got a broken toe first round and had no movement, but like I said before, if I am going out I am out on my back. Thanks again. One love.”
The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for Hunt and dropped his overall record down to 9-8. It was also only the second time he’d been knocked out in his MMA career.
