It appears UFC middleweight Luke Rockhold has already put a recent loss to Vitor Belfort behind him and is out looking for his next opponent. The 28-year old took to Twitter this week, making reference to some past comments from Michael Bisping as a source of motivation for a match-up with the seasoned Brit.
“You don’t have opponent, I don’t have opponent. You talk sh*t about ‘practice’. I say we set the record straight once and for all,” wrote Rockhold in a message directed to Bisping and UFC President Dana White.
Late last year, Bisping spoke about sparring with Rockhold one time and went so far as to label himself as the “unofficial Strikeforce champion” based on the result. At the time, Rockhold was Strikeforce’s 185-pound king.
Unfortunately for Rockhold, Bisping didn’t take the bait, responding, “I say you go and win a fight in the UFC then we can talk.”
The 10-2 Rockhold saw a nine-fight run laid to waste less than two weeks ago when Belfort blasted him into unconsciousness at UFC on FX 8. Prior to the stumble he’d picked up wins over Keith Jardine, Tim Kennedy, and Ronaldo Souza.
Bisping was also pounded out by Belfort earlier this year but picked up a decision win over Alan Belcher in his follow-up performance. He holds an overall record of 24-5 with fourteen TKOs of his own.
