Welterweight Carlos Condit came into the UFC on an eight-fight winning streak and status as the last divisional champion in WEC history. Though the expectations for Condit were sky high, his stock was quickly brought back down to Earth after losing a closely-contested clash with Martin Kampmann in his Octagon debut. Now, according to an official announcement, he’ll have a chance to avenge the defeat.
Condit and Kampmann have been scheduled to serve as the main event at UFC on FS 2. The card is set for August 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana and will air on FOX Sports 1.
Condit is currently in the midst of his first slide since 2006, dropping decisions to champion Georges St-Pierre and top contender Johny Hendricks in his last two tilts. Prior to the streak the 26-8 “Natural Born Killer” had exited five straight fights with his hand raised including victories over Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, and Nick Diaz.
“The Hitman” is also coming off a loss to Hendricks ending his hopes at a title-shot. Kampmann holds an overall record of 20-6 with fifteen finishes.
