Though the bout is far from booked, it looks like a middleweight match-up between UFC stand-outs Cung Le and Michael Bisping is in the works. Le recently expressed interest in a clash with “The Count” with the feeling ultimately turning out to be mutual based on Bisping’s response to the possibility.
“I’m not going to accept just any fight, and at this point in my career I don’t have to. I’ve worked hard to be where I am. I’ve had a few setbacks, but other than that, I’m just going to heal up and whatever happens, happens,” said Le in an interview with ESPN. “That would be a great fight for the fans. That would be a big fight. But I’m not the one to make that decision. Whether I’m at the top of that list for the fight or on the bottom, it ultimately comes down to who Joe Silva and the UFC decide who we fight.”
With Luke Rockhold and Rich Franklin also pointing to potential pairing with Bisping, the Ultimate Fighter 3 winner clearly has a few options. However, none are as intriguing as Le according to the 34-year old Brit.
“Of those three, Cung Le would be the most attractive. He’s on a two-fight win streak. He just knocked out Rich Franklin. So I would fight him,” acknowledged Bisping in a follow-up conversation with the outlet.
Both men also went on Twitter today, verbally agreeing to the tilt.
Le is 9-2 in his MMA career with eight wins by way of knockout. Comparably, Bisping holds an overall mark of 24-5 with eighteen finishes and was last seen beating Alan Belcher in late April.
