UFC bantamweight Sara McMann is viewed by many as the biggest threat to champion Ronda Rousey’s reign based on her Olympic background and overall athleticism. Though Rousey will be busy for awhile with TUF 18 and contender Miesha Tate, it looks like McMann will at least have an opportunity to put herself in position for a title-shot after agreeing to mix it up with Sarah Kaufman on August 28 at UFC on FS 2. The bout was announced on this week’s episode of UFC Tonight.
McMann is 7-0 thus far in her career with past wins over Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler. She was last seen stopping Sheila Gaff with strikes in the opening round of an April outing also serving as McMann’s Octagon debut.
The 16-2 Kaufman has come out with a hand raised in four of her last five fights. A former Strikeforce champion, ten of her wins have come by way of TKO.
Officials also announced a bout between Bubba McDaniel (21-6) and Brad Tavares (10-1) had been added to the card’s lineup. UFC on FS 2 is scheduled for Indianapolis and will feature welterweights Martin Kampmann-Carlos Condit competing in the main event.
