Bellator brings in Diego Nunes

Despite having already signed UFC veterans Vladimir Matyushenko, Paul Sass, Matt Riddle, and Quinton Jackson over the past few months, Bellator doesn’t appear to be done, as featherweight Diego Nunes has also reportedly inked a deal with the organization. He is expected to make his promotional debut this fall when Season 9 rolls around on Spike TV.

MMAFighting was able to confirm Nunes’ status with a Bellator official.

The 18-4 Nunes hasn’t fought since a decision loss to Nik Lentz in January cost him his spot on the UFC roster. In addition to having finished eleven of the opponents he’s beaten, Nunes can also boast past wins over the likes of Manny Gamburyan, Bart Palaszewski, Raphael Assuncao, and Mike Brown.

Nunes is a good fighter and, like Sass and Fitch, should have never been cut from Zuffa. Here’s hoping Bellator treats him a little better.

couldnt agree more, not the most thrilling guy in the world but a top fighter that any organization should be pleased to have, including Zuffa
