Invicta FC has put on five successful shows for free and the promotion is now poised to give it a go on Pay-Per-View. Serving as the first of what the organization hopes is many PPV events, Invicta FC 6 features former Strikeforce champions Marloes Coenen and Cristaine Justino fighting for the right to wear the company’s first featherweight title in the evening’s headliner.
Invicta FC confirmed the card’s status in a press release to media. The July 13 broadcast will cost $14.95 to purchase.
“We are excited about bringing the Invicta FC brand of women’s world championship Mixed Martial Arts to television for the first time with this tremendous rematch between two of the world’s top women fighters,” explained Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp. “This is yet another step forward for women’s MMA and we are extremely proud to be leading the charge.”
The 11-1 Justino, commonly called by her nickname “Cyborg”, picked up a first-frame TKO in her Invicta FC debut this past April. Nine of her wins have come as the result of strike-based stoppages including a 2010 victory over Coenen.
Coenen’s submissions should serve as a perfect foil to Justino’s stand-up. She holds an overall record of 21-5 with an impressive fifteen finishes coming from her BJJ base.
