The UFC has upped the ante for this week’s festivities at the annual Fan Expo by putting together a number of notable match-ups on the grappling front for onlookers’ enjoyment. In addition to tilts featuring Amanda Lucas, Ulysses Gomez, Fredson Paixao, and Dean Lister, a pair of legitimate super-scraps have been booked in the form of John Dodson-Scott Jorgensen and Jim Miller-Cole Miller.
UFC officials have confirmed all nine of the Grapplers Quest clashes including a four-man tournament attached to the fun. All bouts will involve ten minute periods with a five minute overtime if necessary and are “submission only” meaning points will not be given for position/control.
Both Millers are BJJers by trade, combining for 26 submission victories in 41 total triumphs. They also happen to be among their division’s toughest draws and can boast more than a few big wins inside the Octagon.
Meanwhile, Dodson is a flyweight title-contender and an Ultimate Fighter 14 champion who holds an overall record of 14-6. Comparably, the 14-7 Jorgensen has been a staple on the bantamweight scene for years dating back to his WEC days. Dodson has two wins by way of submission, while Jorgensen has tapped out five of his past foes.
