Uriah Hall gets Josh Samman as replacement for Nick Ring at UFC on FS 1

The match-up many fans expected to see in the Ultimate Fighter 17 final will take place, albeit four months after season winner Kelvin Gastelum hoisted the trophy above his head. Instead, runner-up Uriah Hall will face semifinalist Josh Samman at UFC on FS 1 rather than Nick Ring as originally expected.

According to MMAJunkie, Ring was forced to withdraw from the August 17 effort due to injury.

Hall scored a slew of fantastic stoppages on TUF 17 but came up short on the scorecards against Gastelum. He is 7-3 with all but one of his wins featuring a finish.

Like Hall, Samman’s hopes of being TUF 17 champ were ended by Gastelum. However, he picked up a knockout win over Kevin Casey at the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale to improve his career mark to 10-2. Six of his victories have come by way of TKO.

Hopefully he has gotten it out of his head that he’s already championship material and actually comes ready to fight this time. The kid has phenomenal talent, if he can keep his head out of his ass.

Is Hall and Samman buddies? If not then this should be a good fight

I’m interested to see how Hall does now that he’s left Tiger Schulmans. Samman is no joke though and this is a good test for both guys.

I loved how Hall was the next coming of christ meanwhile he lost to both Weidman and Philippou before he was on TUF, If he was that damn good wouldn’t he have already been in the UFC like the 2 guys that beat him…and be ranked as high as them at that… Hall is a great striker but that’s where it starts and ends.
