UFC welterweight Matt Brown may be “The Immortal” but divisional peer Thiago Alves is a puny human being who has been subject to the injury bug all too often in recent years. Disappointingly, Alves has once again gone down for health-related reasons and been forced out of his bout with Brown at UFC on FS 1. On the bright side, the UFC hasn’t wasted time finding a replacement, as Mike Pyle will step in to test his mettle against the surging Brown.
FOX Sports confirmed the change earlier today.
Pyle has put together a nice run of his own with success in four straight including a May outpointing of Rick Story. He is 25-8 in his career with sixteen submissions to his credit.
The 17-11 Brown is on five fight winning streak with all but one of the victories coming by way of a strike-based stoppage. He was last seen smashing Jordan Mein in the second round of their UFC on FOX 7 scrap.
