With the Fourth of July falling this week it’s no coincidence the UFC decided to announce a new Fight for the Troops event planned for November 6. The UFC has put on two Fight for the Troops cards before though it’s been more than two years since the last one. Past efforts have been used to help raised money for wounded veterans.
UFC President Dana White confirmed the upcoming card during a Q&A session with fans in Las Vegas for UFC 162. No location or potential match-ups were mentioned, though it’s safe to say some sort of military base will serve as the venue. With a Wednesday on tap, odds are also good FOX Sports 1 will serve as the broadcast home for the festivities.
A number of former soldiers currently call the UFC their professional home including Brian Stann and Tim Kennedy. Stann’s schedule is free at the moment, while Kennedy is taking to the Octagon tonight on PPV where he’ll fight Roger Gracie.
