Heavyweight Matt Mitrione has offered up a ton of trash-talk directed towards UFC on FOX 8 opponent Brendan Schaub over the past few weeks. However, he’ll have hold off for awhile before attempting to back up the smack, as Mitrione suffered an injury while training for the tilt and has withdrawn as a result.
According to a report from MMAFighting, the UFC is focused on rescheduling the fight rather than seeking a replacement.
Schaub confirmed the change today on Twitter, writing, “Seattle, love your coffee but being scheduled to fight there not so much…Frustrated….back to the gym.”
The 9-3 Schaub ran into a similar situation late last year when Lavar Johnson pulled out of a planned pairing at UFC on FOX 5, also in Seattle.
No details were offered on Mitrione’s condition.
