Detroit lightweight Daron Cruickshank will abandon the sounds of Motown for Seattle’s grunge scene later this month after getting a call to replace Spencer Fisher in a match-up with Yves Edwards at UFC on FOX 8. Both fighters are looking to bounce back from a decision defeat and should be gunning for a finish come showtime.
UFC officials have confirmed Cruickshank’s spot in the scrap. The change is the fourth to the July 27 card in the last 24 hours.
The 12-3 Cruickshank saw a six-fight winning streak laid to waste in March after falling to John Makdessi on the scorecards. Seven of his victories have come via TKO.
Edwards is one of the most seasoned scrappers on the UFC roster with a 42-19-1 record including 33 finishes.
UFC on FOX 8 is headlined by flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson putting his gold up for grabs against John Moraga. Among the other notable bouts on deck are the likes of fights featuring Jorge Masvidal-Michael Chiesa and Rory MacDonald-Jake Ellenberger.
