Top Ten UFC Lightweight Strikers

His head kick off the fence against Benson Henderson is one of the most famous MMA kicks of all time. Despite being outwrestled by Clay Guida in his first UFC appearance, I think we all see his true potential now. As long as he stays on his feet (he’s pretty good with a triangle choke too) the opponent is in trouble, and he is knocking on the door of becoming the lightweight champion. Here is a list of some the UFC lightweights that can throw leather.  Many of these fighters have made a career out of slick striking coupled with a good amount of knockout power.  It is tough to identify the best strikers because the division is so stacked right now, but here are who I think, in order, the best strikers in the UFC’s lightweight division. Honorable Mention: Nate Diaz, Melvin Guillard, and Rafael Dos Anjos.

John Makdessi and Gilbert Melendez but no Melvin Guilard, Josh Thompson, or Tony Ferguson? Even Nate Diaz is a better pure striker than some of the guys you have listed.

Glad you put Njokuani on the list though.

Not bad. I’d probably put Cowboy right behind Pettis.

Yea I’m surprised about Thomson not being there and I think Masvidal should be higher….But hey it’s the writers list so he can do as he pleases….

I don’t necessarily agree with the list but it is subjective. I woulda had Guillard ranked after Pettis. It’s funny that the last two title holders aren’t on the list as they felt it was better to change divisions. Both BJ and Edgar would be very high on my list if they were still there.
