Robbie Lawler highest-paid fighter at UFC on FOX 8

The list of salaries attached to UFC on FOX 8 has surfaced and, surprisingly, the top earner wasn’t in the evening’s co-headlining clash or main event. In fact, flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson had four of his peers draw a paycheck bigger than his and another match it.

According to the Washington State Department of Licensing, welterweight Robbie Lawler was the only six-figure scrapper this past Saturday night, receiving $156,000 for his knockout of Bobby Voelker. The victory was Lawler’s second straight since returning to the UFC.

Meanwhile, Johnson made $58,000 for his successful title-defense against John Moraga. Other notable figures listed included $58,000 for Danny Castillo, $66,000 for Jorge Masvidal, $74,000 for Ed Herman, and $84,000 for Melvin Guillard.

Also worth mentioning, Johnson, Guillard, Herman, and Trevor Smith scored an extra $50,000 each for performance-related bonuses not listed in the regulatory board’s report.
