A solid bantamweight bout has been added to an increasingly excellent UFC lineup scheduled for October 19 in Houston, Texas. According to an official announcement, George Roop will face Francisco Rivera at UFC 166, giving each man an opportunity to establish himself as a future contender in the division.
Roop, who is 14-9-1 in his career, has gone 2-0 since slimming back down after a run at 145 pounds including a TKO of Brian Bowles in his most recent rumble. He has also scored strike-based stoppages in his career against Josh Grispi and Chan Sung Jung.
The 9-2 Rivera is currently on a four-fight winning streak with knockouts in three of the tilts.
UFC 166 is headlined by a heavyweight title-fight between champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Junior dos Santos. Other premier pairings include Gilbert Melendez-Diego Sanchez, Hector Lombard-Nate Marquardt, and Daniel Cormier-Roy Nelson.
