Since the UFC has started focusing a significant portion of its resources on Brazil the organization has produced a handful of fighters dripping with star potential, many of whom have emerged on TUF Brasil. Among the bunch is undoubtedly Rony Bezerra (i.e. Rony “Jason”) due to his passion for pugilism, personality, and polished skill-set.
Though not confirmed, it appears “Jason” will get the biggest test of his career later this year when he faces Jeremy Stephens at a yet-to-be-announced October 9 show in Brazil. MMAWeekly was first to report the likely rumble.
The 21-9 Stephens is known for his heavy hands and durability. Fourteen of his wins have come via strike-based stoppage including those over Rafael dos Anjos and Cole Miller. He was last seen outpointing Estevan Payan in a bloody brouhaha at UFC 160.
Bezerra is 13-3 and on an eight-fight winning streak including a trio of triumphs inside the Octagon. All but one of his overall victories has featured a finish with eight submissions and four TKOs.
