Fans in England will be happy to hear another of their own has been booked for action in the Octagon when the UFC heads to Manchester in October, as a bout between flyweights Phil Harris (22-10) and John Lineker (22-6) was announced by officials earlier today. In addition to being an intriguing match-up from a skill standpoint, it should also be interesting to see how Lineker fares on the scale after missing weight badly before his previous pairing.
Harris, who hails from Hampshire, has seventeen stoppages to his name including thirteen submissions. He hasn’t fought since outpointing Ulysses Gomez in February where he improved his record in the UFC to 1-1.
The heavy-handed Lineker has ten TKOs notched on his record. He is currently on a three-fight winning streak with knockouts of Jose Maria Tome and Azamat Gashimov in his last two tilts.
