Dana White not parting with “Face the Pain” song intro: “They can mute their television”

UFC president Dana White enjoys “Face the Pain” as the musical introduction to UFC events.

So, for those that do not like hearing it, the boss has four words for you:

“They can mute their television,” said White, during a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. “It’s like retiring (Bruce) Buffer saying, ‘It’s time. You’d have to go out and find another piece that fit and was perfect and license it and go through all this crazy shit, you know what I mean? It works.”

White pushed out the gladiator sequence that previously was used after the UFC and FOX agreed to a multi-year partnership. The FOX robot, Cleatus, will be used Saturday night during UFC Fight Night 26.

Stemm, a New York-based metal band, licensed the song to the UFC in 2002. White said the song “really does get you fired up.”

That intro can’t go away. It’s cool on television, but it’s absolutely electric when you see it live.
