The rapid rise of UFC featherweight Conor McGregor has been put on hold for a solid chunk of time after a recent examination unveiled some serious damage to the Irishman’s knee stemming from his UFC Fight Night 26 meeting with Max Holloway. According to UFC President Dana White, McGregor tore his ACL in the bout and will need up to ten months to recover from the injury. He also suffered a strained MCL and small tear in his meniscus.
White’s announcement came on FOX Sports Live.
McGregor was able to finish the fight with Holloway and bring home a Unanimous Decision win. The performance improved his mark to 2-0 in the Octagon and 14-2 overall. It was also the first time he hadn’t finished an opponent en route to victory, though understandably so given the influence his injured knee undoubtedly had on his output.
