It’s safe to say Kurt Holobaugh is the least known fighter on this list but Healy’s outpointing of him in Strikeforce’s curtain call was definitely an important moment in the grizzled grappler’s career, as it marked his sixth straight win under the organization’s banner. Considered a top contender in Strikeforce, Healy moved to the UFC along with many of the company’s other competitors and pulled off a memorable submission of the always-tough Jim Miller in his first Octagon outing. Unfortunately, Healy tested positive for marijuana metabolites after the match-up and saw the success changed to a No Contest.
Lightweight Pat Healy will take to the Octagon in a couple of weeks when he clashes with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 165 where he’ll attempt to follow up on a fantastic showing against Jim Miller this past April without the subsequent suspension for recreational drug use. If Healy is able to get by the unbeaten Russian, he’ll set himself up for a potential title-shot or at least a crack at top contendership, adding yet another impressive feat to a rock solid run in MMA. Of course, it won’t be the first big win for “Bam Bam”, as he’s taken out more than his share of game adversaries… (Photos by USA Today Sports Images)
