Diego Sanchez may be a lightweight at the moment but there’s little doubt he’ll return to 170 pounds at some point in the future. He’s 31-years old and big 155er to begin with so it’s a natural move. When that day comes, his first clash should be with Martin Kampmann assuming the polished Dane is still on the organization’s roster. After all, the first fight was an absolute jaw-dropper. Kampmann beat Sanchez up badly but was rocked himself before bout's end. However, despite the shots he ate “The Hitman” was hit even harder by the judges awarding the decision to Sanchez. Giving him another go at Sanchez would not only be the right thing to do but a “Fight of the Night” in waiting.
There are some major rematches coming up inside the Octagon over the remaining months in 2013 including Cain Velasquez-Junior dos Santos, Ronda Rousey-Miesha Tate, and Anderson Silva-Chris Weidman. Last week also saw news surface stating B.J. Penn and Frankie Edgar would be facing off for a third time, albeit at 145 pounds rather than lightweight like their previous pairings. Rematches are big business in MMA, and though some cases involve tilts that aren’t really necessary, there are plenty of possibilities out there worth considering when it comes to past opponents facing off again.
