On paper it looked like the duel between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit was going to be epic. Unfortunately, “The Natural Born Killer” took a safer-than-normal approach to the Stockton scrapper and went for a decision win rather than a finish. The performance left a sour taste in the mouths of many including UFC President Dana White. If booked again, chances are the result would be much sweeter even if Condit still emerged with his hand raised, plus it might be a way to get Diaz out of his current state of semi-retirement.
There are some major rematches coming up inside the Octagon over the remaining months in 2013 including Cain Velasquez-Junior dos Santos, Ronda Rousey-Miesha Tate, and Anderson Silva-Chris Weidman. Last week also saw news surface stating B.J. Penn and Frankie Edgar would be facing off for a third time, albeit at 145 pounds rather than lightweight like their previous pairings. Rematches are big business in MMA, and though some cases involve tilts that aren’t really necessary, there are plenty of possibilities out there worth considering when it comes to past opponents facing off again.
