WSOF 6: Fitch returns to face unknown opponent

Jon Fitch returns to action on October 26 at World Series of Fighting 6 to fight Marcelo Alfaya.

Fitch has only brought in a single win since 2010 and has lost his past two fights to Demian Maia and Josh Burkman in embarrassing fashion.

Losing to Burkman, who Fitch had previously submitted en route to receiving his UFC title shot, was the least expected outcome of the WSOF 3 main event. Burkman blasted Fitch with punches before a desperation shot had Burkman latching onto a guillotine choke that ended the bout just :41 seconds into the opening round.

Alfaya is the right opponent for Fitch if the WSOF ever wants him to see the light of day. The American Top Team/Team Nogueira-trained fighter has only fought once a year since 2011, and unlike Fitch, Alfaya has a few consecutive wins on his resume.

A loss to Alfaya could be all it takes to send Fitch into retirement.

Crazy to see a guy like Fitch matched up with somebody without much or any name recognition, but the guy has lost to some big names like Ellenberger, and holds a n/c to Luiz Cain.
