Faber has brought home three straight wins since falling to interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao via decision, two of which came by submission, while McDonald scored a solid stoppage of Brad Pickett in an August outing since his stumble to the Brazilian phenom. They’re both athletic, technically sound, and itching to get another shot at beating Barao. It’s always interesting when you match an up-and-coming youngster against a seasoned veteran, and when you factor in the level both McDonald (22) and Faber (34) fight at you’ve got the makings of one of the year’s best bouts.
2013 has been a historic year for the UFC in terms of their partnership with FOX. In addition to producing four events for the chief network, the organization also helped launch FOX Sports 1 and delivered a ton of additional action through FX/Fuel TV. Both parties look ready to end the twelve-month period on a high-note with a steadily growing star-studded lineup for UFC on FOX 9. The December 14 event already features a title-fight, plus two tilts with contendership implications as well as a pair of bouts between seasoned veterans with something to prove.
