Arguably the biggest heavyweight title-fight in UFC history, Dos Santos and Velasquez helped usher in the FOX era with a short but sweet showdown a little more than two years ago. Many felt Velasquez would immediately shoot for a takedown in order to avoid Dos Santos’ striking but instead stood with him. The decision proved to be a costly one, as “Cigano” ended things with an overhand shot behind Velasquez’s ear a minute into the match-up.
With four Top 10 heavyweights on tap, as well as another bout featuring two of the division’s highly-touted players, it’s clear the lineup for UFC 166 is as dreamy as it gets for fans of the sport’s big boys. Specifically, champion Cain Velasquez is scheduled to defend his title against Junior dos Santos at the show, while Roy Nelson-Daniel Cormier and Shawn Jordan-Gabriel Gonzaga will also take to the Octagon in hopes of entertaining fans and exiting the effort victorious. With the event less than a week away, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently gave his thoughts on the best knockouts in the company’s history and not surprisingly most of the aforementioned heavyweights made the cut based on past performances including one holding the list’s top spot.
