Okay, so Sanchez’s sanity (or lack thereof) was never really in question based on some of his past behavior. Of course, seeing him go into bezerker mode as he did against Gilbert Melendez was a nice reminder of the depths Diego will dig to when it comes to a fight. His face was flayed to the point that would have made Ramsay Bolton proud but Sanchez never backed down, exchanging wildly in the pocket with Melendez. He was all smiles at the post-fight press conference and, chances are, anyone watching the fight was still grinning from ear-to-ear as well when thinking about what had been witnessed earlier.
The State of Texas isn’t exactly renowned when it comes to education, and the Octagon doesn’t make for a traditional classroom, but fans tuning in to UFC 166 certainly exited the Houston-based event with some nice nuggets of knowledge concerning the involved competitors. From start to finish the event featured a little bit of everything, from Disappointingly Plodding Performances A to Furious Fisticuffs 101.
