UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has a little beef with his bosses.
Now, Jones isn’t planning on no-showing any event in the future, but he wants to see his top contenders square off against one another instead of “Bones” having to take them out himself.
“Let’s see (Alexander) Gustafsson vs. (Daniel) Cormier,” said Jones, during an interview with MMA Fighting Monday. “It makes so much sense. Me, Cormier, Gustafsson and Teixeira; the top-four guys in the division. Let’s put us all in a little round-robin pool.”
The UFC tried matching Gustafsson up with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, but Nogueira recently took his name off the schedule due to an injury. Cormier has stated he doesn’t want to make his first fight at 205 pounds overseas, and the UFC wants “The Mauler” on the March card from England.
Jones and Teixeira are still set to face each other in 2014, though no date has been pinpointed for the match. Gustafsson is expected to earn a rematch with Jones should both win their next fights.
