According to a report on FOX Sports Live, UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will not be defending his title in December against Josh Thomson.
Instead, the UFC on FOX 9 card from Sacramento will be headlined by a flyweight title match between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez.
The new main event for The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale will be lightweights Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz. That card takes place later this month.
UFC president Dana White announced late Saturday night that Pettis was injured, but would remain able to compete in December. “Showtime” has missed ample time over the course of his Octagon career with injuries.
