Northeast MMA Round-Up – 11.19.13

Warrior Nation held an all Amateur card at the Hu Ke Lau in Chicopee, MA and CES revisited Foxwoods in Connecticut this past weekend.

At Warrior Nation, Western Mass writer Joe Leonard secured his second win with second round submission of Jesus Santiago.  This was the second win for the Team Ravenous Featherweight.  In the Main Event, Strikezone Middleweight Max Evans improved to 2-0 with a win over Garret Kulik.

At the Foxwood Casino, Amateur Featherweight Kyle Bochniak improved to 4-1 with his second win in two months.  The Broadway MMA fighter won by first round TKO over Angel Laboy.

Welterweight Chuck O’Neil made short work of Georgia journeyman Chris Woodall to improve to 12-6. The end came at 2:24 of the first round.

In the Fight of the Night, regionally ranked Middleweights Tom Egan and Harley Beekman battled for three rounds, with Beekman taking the victory on all three cards.  The win improves the Bombsquad Middleweight to 6-2 while Tom Egan (Team Egan) falls to 7-4.

Connecticut’s Josh Diekmann made short work of visiting Heavyweight Chris Guillen with a knee to the gut and subsequent G&P strikes to earn a TKO win at just 1:15 of the first round.  Diekmann then got on the microphone and called out top ranked Heavyweight Tyler King, who was sitting cageside, and a minor melee erupted that involved the casino security, a venue full of fans, and some beverage cups being tossed around the cage.  King beat Diekmann a year ago via unanimous decision, and it looks like a rematch may be in the works…
